Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is a game developed and published by Spike Chunsoft. In the North American & European regions, NIS America published the game. The Japanese version of the game translates to "Danganronpa: Academy of Hope and High School Students of Despair". The story was created by Kodaka Kazutaka and the illustrations are by Komatsuzaki Rui.

The sequel to the Danganronpa series was announced on the July 26th 2012, entitled Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. An anime for the series was also announced.

Danganronpa Trigger happy havoc's time period takes place in September of 2010, with a 23-year old kid named Makoto Naegi who gets sent a letter from Hope's Peak Academy to join it, at the time Makoto was confused... how on earth will a 23-year old like him join a High school?? but at the same time wanting to join at the same time, so he couldn't say no, so in early October of 2010, he joined Hope's Peak Academy, there he met the Protaginists, and when he first saw Kyoko Kirigiri he first saw her as a cold, but oddly beautiful woman, he started to experiance his 17-year old self when he saw his crush Sayaka Maizono, he later to start having feelings for Sayaka when she told him, he was a kind and generous boy when the two of them went at the same Middle school, then in Chapter 1, Makoto finds his crush dead when Leon Kuwata killed her, that is when Chapter 1 starts.
